Classroom Management

Classroom Management Plan
On the board there is a traffic light poster. Each student has a magnetic car with his or her name on it. As rule infractions occur, students move their cars from green to yellow to red. At the end of the day, students whose cars have stayed on yellow or green earn a point. After ten points, a student earns a treat. After twenty points the student earns a prize from the treasure chest.
Students whose cars move more than 3 levels may have a note sent home to their parents. Continued discipline problems will result in meetings with parents and the principal.

Having worked with young children for thirty-six years, I am aware of their energy and need for reminders to conduct themselves appropriately in the classroom setting.  That is taken into consideration before their behavior markers are moved.

The students developed a list of rules for the classroom on the first day of school:
        Treat others with respect.
        Be honest.
        Raise your hand.
        Walk in the building,
Be responsible and take care of your things.
